What Does Moon in the 7th House Mean?

The 7th house isn't naturally paired with feeling: by classical assignment it belongs to Venus and Libra, not the Moon. Landing your Moon there anyway means the part of you that reacts, absorbs mood and reads emotional weather gets tested specifically inside one-to-one partnership: marriage or any other committed pairing, legally contracted or otherwise, and close rivalries, not solo pursuits. Does It Mean I'm Too Dependent on My Partner?

Not automatically. Astrologers sometimes call the mechanism behind this risk the “inner partner,” a term the astrologer Liz Greene uses: a quality you haven't fully claimed in yourself shows up in a partner first, and it's the friction that follows that lets you take it back. Self-check: spend a day apart from your partner. If your emotional state still makes sense to you without them, the dependency risk isn't running the show; if it feels blank or borrowed until they're back, that pattern is worth naming rather than living with quietly. Handled well, a partner can work like a model for that same quality, letting you gradually claim it as your own instead of only borrowing it from them.

A friend moving across the world and a partner doing the same land completely differently: sadness and support in the first case, something closer to whiplash in the second. That gap marks the line between these two houses. The 7th carries the relationship and its terms: commitment, cooperation, who does what for whom. The 8th carries shared money and resources, plus the gut-level material unique to a sexual bond: sex, mortality, the parts of merging that can't be managed politely. When Does This Reading Not Apply?

This reading assumes an accurate birth time: house cusps shift about one house every two hours, so an approximate time can put the Moon in the 6th, 7th, or 8th house. It also assumes a house system: Placidus and Whole Sign can disagree about whether the Moon counts as being in the 7th at all, especially near a cusp, without changing its zodiac sign. And a hard aspect to the Moon doesn't make a reading impossible, just more work: aspects change how much effort a pattern takes, not whether the underlying need is good or bad. Any one of these three breaks the reading on its own.
